Qubus Kintsugi

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Qubus studio and brand, the limited edition Qubus Kintsugi Collection was created.

Developed by ceramic artist and illustrator Silvie Luběnová, the collection revisits products from the studio’s early years and reinterprets iconic designs
by  Maxim Velčovský, including the Waterproof  boot vase and the Unlimited  vase from the historic first White Collection. 

The broken pieces restored through this technique have been collected over the past three years. Among them are a Kintsugi version of the popular Little Joseph  candleholder and the celebrated Republic Tray  bowl in the shape of the Czech Republic. 

The collectible Qubus Kintsugi Collection comprises only fifteen unique pieces. It is on display in the Qubus showroom on Rámová Street in Prague and is also available online. 

The traditional Japanese technique of repairing broken ceramics by highlighting rather than concealing the repaired joins becomes here a symbol of time, value, and continuity. The cracks are not hidden; instead, they are accentuated with lacquer mixed with silver, gold, or platinum powder,  transforming them into an integral part of each object's story. 

The collection connects the history of the Qubus brand and studio with its contemporary identity, reminding us that the true value of design emerges  through layers of experience,  memory, and time.
