Lucifer

2006, Candle holder, porcelain

Candle holder whose shape is derived from a pun, with a slightly assault subtext. It combines the Latin origin of the word meaning “light bearer” (lux - light, fear - to carry) with the Chrisitian symbol of the “holey” palm. In addition, when several candle holders are arranged in a circle, there is a situation known from spiritualist séances.

measurements: 17 x 20 x 6 cm

Maxim Velčovský was born in 1976. He completed his studies at Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. Nowadays he is a head of the Ceramics and Porcelain Atelier at Fine Arts Academy in Prague.
